How Radar measures AI visibility

Receipts, not vibes. Every claim in a Radar report is backed by a stored, dated observation you can read yourself.

What we measure

Radar asks AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude on the Growth plan) the questions real customers ask when choosing a local business — through each provider's official API with web search enabled. We record the full answer, which businesses were named, and the sources the assistant cited. Every number in your report traces back to stored, dated answers you can read.

How the recommendation rate works

Your rate is simple division: answers that named your business ÷ all successful answers, over the trailing 28 days. We show the raw counts and a 95% confidence range (Wilson interval) because AI answers vary between runs — a single ask proves little; repeated sampling shows the pattern. Provider failures are excluded from the denominator, never counted against you.

Sample strength labels

“Preliminary” means fewer than 9 observed answers, “developing” 9–29, “established” 30 or more. These describe how much evidence we have — not how good your business is.

What we don't claim

API results with web search approximate — but do not exactly reproduce — what a consumer sees in the ChatGPT or Gemini apps. Mention order is recorded as evidence, never presented as a “rank.” When you complete a recommended fix, we report whether the evidence changed afterward; we do not claim causation. We never estimate revenue impact.

Website checks

Technical readiness uses deterministic checks (robots.txt AI-crawler rules, structured data, server-rendered content, sitemap). Website experience combines Google PageSpeed data with an AI-assisted review of your homepage. These are scored separately and never blended into your recommendation rate.

Data handling

Free reports expire after 90 days and are never indexed by search engines. We send AI providers only public business information — never your email or account data. Paid plans retain scan history for 12 months (Local) or 24 months (Growth); you can export or delete everything from Settings.
